Steel Test Point – Test 20 (M16x1.5)

The health of a hydraulic system is determined by two parameters – oil temperature and pressure. Consequently, hydraulic system design engineers should install devices in the system that make it safe and simple, for maintenance technicians to check the pressure on a routine schedule.

The test point, pressure test coupling, or Minimess is designed for just such a task. They allow machine operators and maintenance personnel to easily and safely connect analog/digital measuring and display devices for the temporary testing or continuous monitoring of system pressure. This type of connection requires no tools, can be used during machinery operation, and will spill no oil when connected and disconnected. The unit even has the capability to connect under pressure up to 5800 PSI (400 bar).

The pressure testing side of the test point is M16x1.5. The side that connects to the machinery comes in a variety of connections – NPT, SAE, JIC, Metric, BSPP, BSPT, ORFS, DKO, etc. A benefit of using the M16x1.5 test point is that it also minimizes the introduction of contamination in a hydraulic system. Most system failures are caused by contaminated oil. The units are suitable for hydraulic oils and other mineral-based fluids.

A vital element of hydraulic system design is to install components in the system that make it possible for maintenance technicians to check pressure at pre-determined intervals effortlessly and allow those technicians to do so safely. The M16x1.5 test point makes this a reality.

The M16x1.5 test coupling has many names. It is often referred to as a test point, Minimess®, MiniPress®, Test 15, EMA, or Press-Check.

Use in conjunction with the direct gauge adapter.
